Primary Responsibilities:
- Field Operations Management: Support day-to-day field services operations, including supervising inspectors and technicians. Ensure safety, performance standards, and compliance with company policies.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and train field staff, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and technical standards. Conduct regular team meetings and performance evaluations.
- Administrative Duties: Manage technical report preparation, approve expenses, review weekly timecards, enforce policies, and oversee daily dispatches for efficient assignment of personnel.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures for the technical and administrative functions within the field services and laboratory departments.
- Project Coordination: Plan, monitor, and execute field activities, collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure timely and high-quality project completion. Identify and address safety, quality, and staffing issues.
- Staff Recruitment and Retention: Manage recruitment, onboarding, and training of field personnel. Support staff development and ensure compliance with training and safety certifications.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high standards for field testing and inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards (ASTM, ACI), and regulatory requirements.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding field activities, ensuring clear communication and resolution of concerns.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 9+ years in construction inspection and materials testing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control testing methods (concrete, soil, asphalt), and construction inspection procedures.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of technical professionals with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Project Management: Ability to coordinate field activities, manage schedules, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include ICC Master in Special Inspection, AWS/CWI, ACI, or equivalent. Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA) is essential.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with MS Office, project management tools, and field reporting systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Client Management: Strong ability to manage client relationships and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Construction Code Knowledge: Familiarity with local and national building codes and standards, especially the California Building Code (CBC).
- Field Experience: Experience in the construction of public works, commercial, and infrastructure projects, with project values ranging from $100 million to $1 billion.
- Safety Program Management: Experience overseeing and managing safety programs across multiple work environments (office, laboratory, field).
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Field Work: Must be able to safely navigate construction sites, including areas with uneven terrain, heights, and active work environments. Fieldwork will require lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Travel: Frequent travel to job sites is required.
